The Tale of the Boo Hag
“Don't let de hag ride ya.” Gullah Folk Saying
She shakes rumbles and thrusts around leaving her skin on the ground
She will be back come morning to return for it
Glowing like the devil himself, evil looms her presence
Skinless red muscles and bright blue veins dance across her flesh... Exposed
Prepare for she will be coming…Old ancestors warn of her tale
As lifeless bodies mark her path
“Cover that crack on the floor!” Mama warned before the boo hag came and got her soul
“Watch that hole in the wall! ” Papa joked and then his was gone too
And soon as the dusk comes she’ll be back for you
Her spirit will slither its way inside, however it can
She lives for the quick flashes of fear that dances across ones’ iris
Her spirit delights in the moment she can feed, her attack ever so graceful and melodic
You will never see it coming
Gliding into a room she will plant herself upon your chest and attach herself to your energy
Taking sips of your breath, drinking your soul in mouthfuls
And when she’s full she’ll use your half-dead body for her fun
Didn’t Mama warn to use that indigo? Didn’t Papa say to watch your back?
Too bad you didn't listen because off goes the Boo Hag riding your body into the night
